Spotify Acquires The Echo Nest, To Gaining Control Of Online Music Industry

Spotify, the biggest online music and Entertainment provider for Android and iPhone, has acquired the Echo Nest a Music Intelligence company, which determine that what recommendation to make their users for automatic streaming radio service. This move will help Spotify to gain control to access the online music community. The Echo nest’s API will stay free and open as terms of the deal, which is good for the competitor like Rdio that still uses its services to suggest the music recommendations. This acquisition will give the control over the tech that their competitor using. In the blog post from Echo Nest says they built this company to fix how people finding music and with Spotify, they will continue that mission. Both companies will go as normal but echo nest team will operate somewhere else of its Somerville HQ.

There are several startups that using the services of Echo Nests including Rdio, iHeatRadio, Deezer and Rhapsody, Other startup like Gracenote provides an API for audio fingerprinting and discovery and its Rhythm API is exactly does same as mentioned above. Acquisition could not affect the early service availability and future development.
